All About Jon Simpson
I’m currently completing the third year of my degree in Computer Science at the University of Kent, studying things including Parallel Programming/Concurrency, Semantic Web and Distributed Systems.

Interests
When not occupied by my course I work for my own company, which is devoted to promotion and advertisement of external web sites and their services. I’ve found the opportunity to apply my skills in a highly competitive commercial environment extremely rewarding for not only personal and financial reasons, but also for the urge it gives me to push forward with new technologies.
Running a business that deals with international partners (in the USA and elsewhere) has had its difficulties, and I’m often surprised at how far I’ve managed to get in the field. Accounting and taxation have been particularly ‘interesting’ in this area, and certainly required a fair amount of learning and adaptation.
On a more technical level, I’m also currently involved with the Transterpreter team and ongoing activities surrounding the occam-pi programming language. The chance to work with enthusiastic, experienced and skilled people on a project that they have a real interest in has been greatly rewarding.
